Partial Text
That "Ye Towne Gossip," a column in the Erie Times, the other day declared "Speaking of courage, Rose Deveres, local nurse, has it by the bucketful... one day she visited that wolf farm down by Kane and asked the proprietor if she could go in the cages... with the utmost assurance she proceeded to make friends with the animals... and went so far as to pet some of them, one in particular that it has taken the owner two years to train so that he could at least get near him, and petted his head... the proprietor seemed to think she had some uncanny sort of power and said it was unusual... he attributed it, however, to her absolute fearlessness of the animals... anyway, we admire the young woman for her courage."
