McCleery Household in the 1880 United States Census [Census Record]

The 1880 Census describes the McCleery household as it was when Dr. E. H. McCleery was a 12-year-old boy. John P. McCleery, head of the household, is described as a white 43-year-old male and a lawyer. His wife, Mary H. McCleery, is described as a white 35-year-old female and homemaker. Their children are Edward H. McCleery (white 12-year-old male) and Maggie P. McCleery (white 10-year-old female), both of whom are attending school.

The McCleery family shares its house with three servants - Annie Woolsey (white 21-year-old single female), Elizabeth Woolsey (white 19-year-old single female), and Bluford Powell (black 50-year-old married male). They also have one boarder - Mary W. Pollock (white 65-year-old single female).

All occupants of the household were born in PA (and both of their parents were also born in PA) except for Bluford Powell, who was born in South Carolina, as were both of his parents.
