Biographical Text
Bruno was captured by Bud Dalrymple in Wyoming when he was a three-month-old pup. Bud kept him as a pet until at least 1919.3
Bruno later came to be in Colonel Shoemaker's possession, and was later owned by Mr. Whitaker, who sent him to Dr. McCleery. Sometime before arriving at Dr. McCleery's park, Bruno had been used as a decoy and was badly injured.1(p.20)
He loved women and hated men, and was afraid of other wolves. Dr. McCleery befriended him by giving him a piece of meat, transferring him to a new yard when he lost interest in the meat, giving the meat to him again in his new yard, and repeating this process several times.1(p.20)
At one point, a doe entered the outer enclosure of the wolf park, and Bruno licked her face through the wire of his pen.1(p.21)
Bruno never recovered from his injuries1(p.20) and had to be killed several months after being otained due to a back injury.2
